Major Substation Earthing Design with Aggregated Risk for the Reasonable Person

This presentation will show how Ausgrid has implemented aggregation of earthing system shock risk in the design of Major Substation earthing systems. It will discuss the various risk contact scenarios that have been adopted and standardised and the various EPR events that are considered. The batched risk assessment is kept from being too conservative (or too onerous) by the introduction of some more realistic assumptions based on observed fault conditions. We review the aggregated risk and safety criteria in the context of a major substation earthing design.
